ABOUT
Vista Wines is the boutique vineyard of Greg and Bridget Dryden that fulfils the lifelong dream of blending great wines and family. This family oriented vineyard aims to produce wines with passion, depth and complexity.
After an eighteen month search for the perfect north-west facing slope of Moutere Gravels we found this amazing site, located at Kina, Nelson. It was originally covered in pine trees and has been carefully moulded and nurtured to create an intensively planted environmentally sensitive Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris vineyard. The Moutere soil, the lifeblood of the vineyard, is being managed to encourage biodiversity, ensuring the soils unique character forms the backbone of our wines.
Vines are all spur pruned to a single one metre cordon with 8-10 bunches per vine. Meticulous canopy management ensures exacting positioning of shoots and bunches maximising light exposure on leaves and fruit.
THE WINE
Our current releases are our 2015 Pinot Noir and our 2016 Pinot Gris.
All wines are produced under Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand practices.
ABOUT
Greg is a senior consultant at Fruition Horticulture (www.fruition.net.nz) and ever since being a student at Massey University in 1990 has harboured desires to live and work on his own vineyard producing wines he is proud to call his own. Bridget has shared this desire to raise a family in this unique location while combining it with great wine, especially Pinot Gris. Mia and Stella are proving to be very able helpers!
